Usually six weeks after the birth, you will have a postnatal check-up. This can be done either at the hospital or by your GP.
The six- week examination is to check that you are recovering from pregnancy and childbirth and that your cervix has returned to normal.
Your blood pressure and weight will also be checked. If you’ve had stitches, the doctor will check that they are healing.
It also gives you a chance to discuss any problems you may be having.
