Correct positioning and attachment to the breast is most important to ensure comfort for the mother and good transfer of breastmilk for the baby.   If your nipples are sore or cracked, it is important to receive good support when breastfeeding. There is a wide range of breastfeeding support available in Ireland offered by public health nurses, voluntary groups and International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs).
